Agents Beware: Rent increase processes are set to change

During the pandemic, landlords froze rents, just happy they were paying. Now, rents are climbing again—but with Renters’ Rights legislation set to ban rent increase clauses and force all rent rises through Section 13 notices, agents will be on the front line of negotiations, tribunal challenges, and tenant pushback. Tribunal delays may mean that future rent increases will be delayed. Landlords should consider whether to negotiate a rent increase whilst it’s still possible.
