Renters’ Rights – Progress Report
The Renters’ Rights Bill has passed the report stage in the House of Lords but will not receive Royal Assent until after the Summer recess. MPs return on 1st September, so Royal Assent can be reasonably expected shortly thereafter. Amendments and Key Issues Attempts to introduce amendments allowing fixed-term tenancies and student tenancy exceptions were either withdrawn or defeated. The Government held firm, prioritising the Bill’s core principle of enhanced tenant security.
