Return to pre-pandemic notice periods

On 12 May 2021 the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government announced that the requirement to give longer notice periods would be extended until 30 September from 1 June 2021. The 6 month notice periods were reduced to 4 months and later, from 1 August 2021, the rent arrears grounds under section 8 were further amended. A one sentence paragraph within the announcement stated the Government’s intention that ‘Subject to public health advice and progress with the roadmap, notice periods would return to pre-pandemic levels from 1 October 2021’.
