Tenant Fees Act Under the new Tenant Fees Act 2019, the Government has banned unfair charges being imposed on tenants in the private rented sector. The Act applies for new tenancies entered into on or after 1 June but there is a transitional period until 31 May 2020 for existing tenancies. The Government has published guidance for the sector, and enforcement authorities to help them understand how the Act will affect them.
