You could be forgiven for asking why we would produce an article on this subject as, what on earth has this got to do with lettings in the Private Rented Sector? Well it turns out rather a lot actually. A failure by a letting agent, or indeed a landlord, to comply with this little known, or perhaps, long forgotten, piece of legislation could mean a level 5 penalty, now an unlimited amount, per breach and up to 6 months in prison.
