Glazing and FENSA Exemptions

Houses that are listed or within a conservation area do not need to comply with the regulations, neither do any doors with less than 50% glazing.

The FENSA Scheme cannot be used for commercial premises or new build properties. In both of these instances you are required to go through the Local Authority Building Control process. FENSA Registration is also not applicable to the Installation of Conservatories or Porches.

FENSA also does not apply to caravans/holiday chalets if they are not occupied for more than 10 months of the year. These fall within the jurisdiction of the Local Authority Building Control process again. If however they are permanently lived in, and have their own postal address which has been registered with the Royal Mail, installations can be FENSA Registered.
