The Government conducted a review of carbon monoxide (CO) alarm requirements, which ended in January 2019 and further to that held a consultation to look at extending the requirements on both smoke and CO. Alarms have been required in the private rent sector (PRS) in England since The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 (the Regulations) came into force in October 2015, but these did not apply to social landlords.
